Ethically evaluative: This picture I took of a empty soda can in a patch of grass is supposed to resemble litter. The can sticks out in the photo, even though it isn't the main focus of the photograph.
Explanatory: This photo by Harold Edgerton resembles a child running. It looks like it is multiple children running, even though it is the same child.
Interpretive: This photograph by Eikoh Hosoe showcases Japanese dancer Kazuo Ohno. Ohno is seen standing on a bridge in a field holding an umbrella over her head with a scared look on her face.
Aesthetically evaluative: This photo I took shows the sun setting on the Rehoboth Bay in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Descriptive: I took a photo of a sign outside of Sean's House advertising upcoming events being hosted by the foundation.
Theoretical: This photo is a self portrait taken by Arno Rafael Minkkinen. It shows his one of his legs sticking out of a boat. From the angle that the photo is taken at along with the black and white coloring, it makes it look like the leg and boat are conjoined together.
Reflecting on my Work
My favorite photo that I took was definitely the one that I used for aesthetically evaluative which was a photo I took from my beach house of the sun setting on the Rehoboth Bay. I personally like this photo because of how I was able to capture the light from the sun reflecting onto the water.
The most challenging part of this assignment was trying to determine what images to use for each category. Some images I definitely knew would fit certain categories while others I had to do research to find/take images that would work for specific categories.
For future assignments, I plan on trying to visit new places to find things that can fit specific categories much more closely.
